Thanksgiving Fun!

Thanksgiving at the Ladd's this year. Pulled the trailer and set up at Plantation Campground. Not a recommendation given by us. Clean but boring. On Monday Angela had gum surgery. After some recuperating we took an outing to the Gaylord Texan to experience "Ice". This year the theme was Shrek. We put on Parka's and headed into 9 degree weather. That's right, 9 degrees!!! It was so much fun. Amazing Ice sculptures. Then off to see Santa. Gran made Harper a Christmas outfit so we changed him so he could meet Santa. By the pictures you can see he loved it.
As Angela continued to recuperate I helped prepare Thanksgiving Dinner. Zac was headed to the last A&M - Texas game. Instead of eating without Zac we had our meal on Friday.
To finish our time in Dallas we got the opportunity to keep Harper at the trailer overnight while Mom and Dad had an evening out. It was so much fun. The holiday would of been perfect if Jason and Brittany had been with us and of course we continue to miss Zac's dad.

Boy, it is COLD in here!

I love my G-Pa!! He likes to put his beard on my face. It tickles.

This is my Aunt Zu-Zu. I love her too. She comes over to keep me when Mom and Dad need to go do something.

Me, G-Pa and Gran having fun.

So this is Santa Claus. He's not so bad looking.
Why do babies cry. I hear he gives presents.

Just Thanking God for my blessings.

Can we talk? My sweet potatoes were not cooked!

Gran can really make me laugh!

YUCK! Green beans, really? Milk was just fine. HELP
We spent the weekend with Harper and family. Enjoyed some down time with nothing to do but enjoy the kids. Took Harper to the Arboretum to take pictures among the pumpkins.  It was beautiful. Took tons of pictures of Harper of course. Had a wonderful time. He is now 27" long and 16.5lbs. He is sitting pretty good and reaching for you. That makes a grandmother's heart melt.

Happy Fall

The weather is changing and fall is finally here. As I was working in the yard yesterday, I realized just  how much we lost in plants and grass this year. I understand that it will take a year for the results of the drought to effect our trees. :(
Besides the weather changing our coffee drinking has changed too. Time for the "Snickerdoodle" flavor that has such a rich cinnamon taste and "Friendship" bread. Fall decorations and pumpkins everywhere.
This weekend we are going take Harper to the Arboretum to the pumpkin patch and pumpkin houses. I can't wait to take those treasured pictures of him. He will be 6 months this week. I just can't believe that time has gone so fast. It seems like yesterday I could rock him to sleep, feed him a bottle and he would just stare at me. Now he talks "babbles", sits, eats food, goes to bed on his own and has such a great personality.

We all believe in God, but do we believe Him for everything?
Enjoy the fall!

Another Wedding Brings CCH Together

CCH(Campbell, Clement, Hazzard) Three families that are best friends and have been for over 30 years. Weekend of October 1st the first boy of the CCH family got married. Wayne performed the ceremony. It was a great time to get together to share such a wonderful occasion. Since all the children of these families are grown, weddings are a wonderful opportunity for all of us to get together. Jason was one handsome groomsman. Angela, Zac, Harper and the pups were here too. They attended the rehersal dinner but, Harper got sick and they couldn't attend the wedding. They did get dressed up and were there for the CCH picture--a tradition since Angela's wedding. One more down and two more to go. :)

                                Weddings are so much fun.
Brittany and Jason
Uncle PoPo and the New Sheriff in town. Now who do you think is cuter!!!

C C H  FAMILY

It was good to see everyone and of course to see Harper and show him off. We are quite proud.

Labor Day with the Family

HAPPY 4TH MONTH BIRTHDAY, HARPER.
Labor Day weekend was a blast. Harper, his mom and dad (Angela & Zac), and the pups came to visit us. My has Harper grown. It has been 6 weeks since I have seen him. He is so different. He looks all around, plays and doesn't need to be rocked to go to sleep. :(  He was so much fun. G-Pa loved playing with him.
I know we ate all weekend, because it seemed like I cooked all day Saturday. Of course we had to try out the newly opened "Tookies". If you haven't eaten there, you are missing a treat. It is one of Angela's favorite places to eat. When she was a little girl they were in Texas City and we ate there with her Granny and Pops a lot.
Sunday, Harper brought his parents to church. Of course Gran (me) was smiling from ear to ear and showing him off.
Angela and Zac have season tickets to the A&M games and they enjoyed the afternoon there. G-Pa and Gran kept Harper. We had a great time. Harper loves to be outside. While we were enjoying ourselves we noticed a baby owl in the corner of our patio cover. It didn't take long for us to start snapping pictures. Needless to say we all came in. G-Pa finally got rid of it. That was a sight to behold. Friends stopped by and brought Harper a bouncy car. It is great. I know we had more fun than Harper, but he did enjoy it.
G-Pa just has to get in the picture. :)
Bouncing is fun

Get out of my way
Well, the kids left Monday and all was too quiet in the house. Can't wait till they come back. 6 weeks is too long to go with out seeing Harper, so I am going to make it 4. :)

Keeping Harper During July

There is nothing like Daddy's lap!
Gran made me this outfit.

I love to smile at the camera.
It was such a joy to keep Harper this summer while his mom and dad taught summer school. I hope the connection Harper and I made will last a lifetime.
He is now 4 months old and laughing, turning over, going to school with his mom and dad and staying in the nursery on campus. Can't wait to see them again.
Today is Jason's 27th birthday. We are so proud to call him our son. Love ya Budger.
Wayne is so busy with the 2 churches which keeps him on his toes.
My school has started too. We are almost full and had a great first week.
Praying for rain and praying for a very cool fall.

This is my excited look!!!!!!
Just love to smile at Gran and the camera.
G-Pa is so hot at the campground. He and Roxie just stay inside during the day and can enjoy outside in the evenings. Harper continues to be a joy to keep. I don't think I am going to be able to keep up with the blogging everyday. I would rather play and love on him.

2nd Week

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Me and G-Pa hanging out.
Well Gran is not so good at this after all. Flew home on Friday and drove back to Dallas with G-Pa and the trailer on Monday. Had dinner at "In and Out" and homemade ice cream at the house. Fresh peaches on top......so good.
Tuesday after the kids came home from school, Wayne and I headed out to The Vineyard Campground. HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And of course our site is in the sun. I did a bad job picking out this one. Left Wayne in the evening and headed back to Richardson so I'd be ready for tomorrow.
Wednesday-Harper slept most of the morning with little playing. Too hot to go to the campsite to see G-Pa so we'll stay in today.

Day 5

It is 9:10 and Harper is just starting to stir. Tried to go back to the regular schedule of not putting him to bed so early. It worked!!!! Angela had to wake him up to feed this morning. That little boy didn't wake up for me till just before 10. He just didn't want to stay awake so it took right at an hour to feed him his bottle. Went outside for just a minute, it was too hot. Time to play in the bouncy. Doesn't want to play on the play mat today. I am enjoying just loving on this precious baby of ours. So blessed.

Day 4

Okay so Gran is not so good at keeping a post everyday, but we had a great morning. Harper played on his mat for 1 hour entertaining himself. Outside and gliding and just having a great time. In fact, yesterday he didn't sleep much during the day. He fought his afternoon nap, but Gran didn't give up. Tomorrow is Friday and I have to fly home for the weekend. Surely the kids will love having the weekend off to rest and play with Harper.

Day 3

Good Wednesday morning. Harper had a good night and so did Gran. He was up at 8:20 and we played in the bouncy till 9. Then we changed a diaper and went outside to swing. At 9:15 he is in his swing and off to sleep. Not a real deep sleep, but he is resting. He smiled so much this morning. Having a great time. Up and ready to eat at 10:30. Back to sleep afterwards at 11 a.m. Up at 11:30. Walked, tried to play and asleep on Gran's shoulder from 12 to 12:45. Mom home now.

Day 2

Ate at "In and Out"last night. If you aren't familiar, come to Dallas and try it. I have never seen police and security directing traffic at a Hamburger joint. CRAZY. It was fun and very good. Well, last night mom and dad tried something new. Feed Harper early, bed early. Harper woke up at 3:30 and then 6:30. Hope they have time to get ready. What do I do?........ Was able to put on makeup and flat iron hair. Harper woke up at 8:20a.m. and fed at 8:30. Time to play on mat, then he decided to give Gran a "grumpy" (dirty diaper) and play in bouncy. Time outside for fresh air. The dogs are really yelping this morning. May have to let them out. Another chapter read in book. Harper is a little fussy. Time for swing. Off to sleep. Another good morning.
Can't pass this up. You know G-Pa is at home by himself. He called this morning and wanted to know how to wash sheets and the mattress pad. Roxie thew up on them. Had to walk him through the process. Can you believe he is 54 and just had his first lesson in clothes washing. Can you train an old dog to do new new tricks? Being gone for a month may be the greatest thing I ever did if he learns how to do things in the house. I love that man. Would never want to trade him in even if he never learned to do things inside. He is the greatest.

Gran's Stay with Harper

Well, today is the first morning for me to keep Harper so his Mom and Dad can teach Summer School. Everyone was up early not knowing what to expect. Couldn't have gone better for me. After mom left Harper continued to sleep till 9:20. Feed him at 9:30 then we played on our mat, in our bouncy and then to the swing. We did some exercising on the mat. Smiled a lot and listened to music. Went to sleep in the swing. 12:10 and we're still asleep. I am patting myself on the back for today. Who knows what he will want tomorrow.

Hanging out with my best G-Pa.

 Mommy and Me..........  :)
        I love it outside.

I am one handsome dude.
I love Patio time with Gran.
What a fantastic week with Angela, Zac and Harper. Oh, and the pups too; Sadie and Tucker. On Friday we took Harper to meet his Great Grandpa Sanders. On Saturday we had a Sip-n-See to introduce Harper to family and friends in Texas City. He was held by everyone who came and he must of loved it because he never cried. Sunday was Angela's Birthday. She still loves to have a Baskin Robbins Cake with Mint Choc. Chip ice cream and choc. cake. Ask her the next time you see her how the dance lessons went that she got for her Birthday. :) Monday Great Grandma, and Great Grandpa, Wayne and I, Ang, Zac, Harper and Jason went to Helen's Garden to have family pictures made. It was really fun and we got some great shots. Tuesday we took Harper to a friends pool to see how he would like the water. He cried some and wasn't really sure what we were doing to him. When they left this morning I had to laugh because the house was empty of "stuff". Babies need a lot.

Great Grandma Meets First Great Grandchild

 Great Grandma and Harper meet.
How exciting it was to take my mom on her first airplane to see Harper. Never before has she agreed to fly. Angela picked us up at the airport and Mom couldn't take her eyes off of Harper. Took some great pictures of the two of them. It was so much fun to see him do some "first". Laugh, pout, smile. How they change so much so quickly.Went to the Dallas Arboretum, enjoyed the flowers, but it was HOT. On Saturday we attended a "Sip and See" in Frisco. Harper got lots of clothes including a Texas Ranger shirt. He also got a teddy bear made from one of his Grandpa Richard's T-shirts. (Grandpa Richard passed away last April) How very special for Zac and how special that will be for Harper. Gran made him some outfits. It has been a long time since I have done any sewing, but it was so fun to make that precious boy some clothes. He was a hit and all the ladies loved holding him. Mom got the window seat on the way home. :)

We had a great time in Dallas visiting Harper, Mom and Dad. Harper is going to be 1 month old tomorrow. Happy Birthday day baby boy. He is filling out and is so cute. G-Pa and Harper had a great time playing pull up. Gran just loves holding him. We went to a baby shower and birthday party, ran some errands and just enjoyed our short time with the kids. Great Grandma Sanders will soon be flying to Dallas to meet her great grandson. Can't wait to take that 4 generation picture.

Happy Delivery

 First Check Up
April 20th at 1:12 p.m. Harper Samuel Ladd was born. He weighed 6 lbs. 8oz. and was 19" long. My prayer was to be there and it happened. How do you justify asking God for anything so selfish. I guess the next time I will go to him with that same desire. What an exciting event in the life of the Clement's and the Ladd's. I don't think I have ever been more proud of Angela. She was fantastic and to watch Zac love her and help her was amazing. From the moment Harper was born, Zac was right there taking it all in and expressing it with tears of sheer joy. It was a moment I shall never forget. Counting the days till we can see him again. Grateful for Skype.

False Alarm

Well, Friday evening we were having a quiet evening at home and preparing for all the stuff we wanted to get done around the house that we didn't get to do Spring Break when we got a phone call from Angela saying they were one their way to the hospital. She had been having contractions all day but now they were very consistent and the Dr. wanted to see them. We got in high gear and washed clothes and packed. Called to make sure the dog had a place to stay and Wayne made sure he had Tuesday & Wednesday evening services covered. Then we waited and waited and waited for the phone call to come. We got the call that she wasn't in labor, but they were going to keep her over night and have a specialist in high risk pregnancy's come in to do an ultrasound on Saturday because about 10% of the time when they checked the baby's heart rate it skipped. They believe that when this precious baby comes that the skip will disappear, but to be safe they will do a sonogram every week till the baby comes. So please pray for Angela and the baby. And of course Zac too. He is really taking great care of his love.

Spring Break

Wayne and Zac each have their own way of putting the game together. :)

It is so beautiful there and we were able to relax and read and of course watch "March Madness".Spent some time with Angela and Zac. They are so exited about the coming birth of the baby. Her precious friends in Dallas gave her a shower today. It was so much fun. Some of her friends brought their baby's.It will be great to see them grow up all together.
